Paraty combines natural beauty with a rich colonial heritage that has been preserved creating an incredible ambience to relax before or after going to Rio de Janeiro. Paraty, a true outdoor museum hidden in a tropical paradise. The city has become a popular tourist destination only recently due to for its beautiful and its incredible coasts and hills. The Portuguese and colonial architecture has been preserved and several buildings have been reconverted into lovely shops, bars and restaurants. There is no automobile transit inside the village so as to preserve the historic heritage and its peaceful environment.

Geko Hostel is ideally located on the Pontal beach and 200 metres away from the historic centre of Paraty. The hostel's beachfront location offers its guests a little oasis of tranquility and laid-back environment in which you can enjoy some drinks, meet cool people, read a book, play a bit of guitar watching the sunset.

Paraty boast lots of beautiful beaches such as Paraty-Mirim, also an Indian reservation, you also can find lots of bars and restaurants, Tarituba with small and calm waters and fine sand,  São Gonçalo, a perfect beach for a rest day, Grande, which is located in a fishing village near Paraty, Jabaquara, surrounded by urbanization, it has calm waters. It is well known by the medical mud, Trindade is the most popular beach in Paraty, Praia do Sono, the most beautiful beach of Paraty for its white sand and crystal clear water, Prainha, a small beach where you can practice diving, Ponta Negra boasting white sand and crystal clear water, Praia Cachadaco, a deserted beach of fine white sand, surrounded by native vegetation, and many other beautifl beaches.
